Nose surgery costs in Thailand: published hospital prices for different techniques, and what a quote should say about anaesthesia, implants and revisions.

Updated
Key points
  • Rhinoplasty covers several different operations; published prices on the pages we read ran from 29,000 baht under local anaesthetic to 265,000 baht for reduction with septum correction.
  • Whether surgery is done under local or general anaesthetic, and whether you stay overnight, is a large part of the price difference.
  • Implants, pre-operative tests and medical clearance are often excluded from published prices.
  • Some prices are limited to fly-in patients; others do not state who can use them.
  • Ask about revision policy and follow-up before you book, especially if you are travelling.

Prices are as published when we read the pages and can change without notice. Techniques and inclusions differ, so compare quotes for the same operation.

Different operations under one name

'Rhinoplasty' covers a range of procedures. In Thailand, a common request is augmentation, raising the bridge or reshaping the tip, often with an implant or the patient's own cartilage. Alarplasty narrows the nostrils. Reduction rhinoplasty removes bone or cartilage, for example to reduce a hump, and septoplasty straightens the internal wall between the nostrils, which can also help breathing.

These carry very different prices. On the pages we read, Phyathai 3 Hospital listed a local anaesthetic rhinoplasty at 29,000 baht and an open rhinoplasty under general anaesthetic with one night in hospital at 100,000 baht. Bangkok Hospital's headquarters listed a local anaesthetic rhinoplasty at 46,000 baht for fly-in patients and reduction rhinoplasty at 207,000 baht, rising to 265,000 baht with septum correction. Make sure you are comparing quotes for the same operation.

Procedures are sometimes combined. Phyathai 3 lists rhinoplasty with double-eyelid surgery under local anaesthetic at 42,000 baht, and rhinoplasty with alarplasty at 39,000 baht. Combining operations can reduce the total compared with two separate visits, but it lengthens the operation and the recovery. If a clinic suggests adding a procedure you had not asked about, ask why, what it costs on its own, and whether it can wait until you have recovered from the first.

Anaesthesia, stay and materials

Simpler augmentation procedures are often done under local anaesthetic as outpatient surgery. Open rhinoplasty and reduction work are typically done under general anaesthetic with an overnight stay, which adds the anaesthetist's fee, the room and nursing. That is a large part of why prices step up so sharply.

Materials matter too. Phyathai 3 lists rhinoplasty using ear cartilage at 58,000 baht, higher than its standard local anaesthetic price, because cartilage must be harvested. Bangkok Hospital's package terms exclude implants and special medical supplies. Ask what implant or graft material is proposed, its manufacturer if it is an implant, and whether it is included in the price.

What published prices leave out

Bangkok Hospital's plastic surgery packages exclude the internal-medicine clearance before surgery, specialist consultations, treatment of complications, implants, laboratory tests and pathology. Phyathai 3's page says its prices cover doctor's fees, room charges and care to hospital standards, but advises asking about pre-operative tests, medication, suture removal, follow-up appointments and revision fees.

Eligibility also varies. Bangkok Hospital's prices apply to fly-in patients. A separate Bangkok Hospital 'Surgery Master' promotion lists the same reduction rhinoplasty prices with a free pre-surgery medical clearance for qualifying inpatient procedures until 31 December 2026; ask whether it applies to you. Phyathai 3's page does not state who can use its prices.

Revisions, recovery and travel

Swelling after nose surgery can take months to settle fully, so the final shape is not visible during a short trip. Ask how long you should stay for stitches to be removed and the first checks, and when you can fly. Ask what the clinic's revision policy is, in writing: whether there is a warranty period, what it covers and whether you would pay for theatre, anaesthesia or travel if a revision were needed.

If you have had nose surgery before, tell the surgeon; revision rhinoplasty is usually more complex and priced accordingly. Bring photographs and any operation notes from earlier surgery.

Many surgeons prefer to see you in person before agreeing a plan, and some will give a provisional view from photographs sent in advance. Ask whether the consultation is charged, whether its fee is deducted if you go ahead, and how much time you should allow between the consultation and the operation, so you are not deciding under time pressure on the day.

Checking the surgeon

Ask for the name of the surgeon who will operate and check their registration with the Medical Council of Thailand. Ask about their training in plastic or facial plastic surgery and how often they perform the operation you want. For a standalone clinic, check its facility licence on the Department of Health Service Support's lookup at hosp.hss.moph.go.th.

This guide does not replace clinical advice. A surgeon who has examined you can say which technique is suitable, what is realistic and what the risks are for you.

Questions to ask before you book rhinoplasty

  • Exactly which procedure is being quoted, and under local or general anaesthetic?
  • Is an implant or cartilage graft proposed, and is it included in the price?
  • Are pre-operative tests, clearance, medication and suture removal included?
  • Does the published price apply to me as a visitor or resident?
  • What is the revision policy, in writing, and what would I pay if a revision were needed?
  • Who will operate, and can I check their registration?

Frequently asked questions

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Thailand?

On the official pages we read in October 2026, prices ranged from 29,000 baht for local anaesthetic rhinoplasty at Phyathai 3 Hospital to 265,000 baht for reduction rhinoplasty with septum correction at Bangkok Hospital's headquarters. The operation, anaesthesia and stay make the difference.

Why is reduction rhinoplasty so much more expensive?

It usually involves reshaping bone and cartilage under general anaesthetic with an overnight stay, which adds anaesthesia, theatre time, room and nursing costs.

Is the implant included?

Not always. Bangkok Hospital's package terms exclude implants. Ask what material is proposed and whether the quote includes it.

How long should I stay in Thailand after nose surgery?

Ask the surgeon. Clinics usually want to remove stitches and check the nose in the days after surgery, and swelling takes months to settle.

What if I am not happy with the result?

Ask for the revision policy in writing before surgery, including any warranty period and what costs you would pay.
