Privacy policy

Thai Clinic Guide needs no sign-up and collects very little about you. Answers you give in our self-checks never leave your device.

The short version

We have no accounts, no comments and no advertising or analytics trackers. You can read every page anonymously.

We only receive personal data when you choose to send it: by emailing us, or by submitting a clinic through our listing form. We use it to deal with what you sent and for nothing else. We never sell it.

Who we are

Thai Clinic Guide (thaiclinicguide.com) is the data controller for the personal data described on this page, as the term is used in Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019) ("PDPA").

For anything on this page, email [email protected].

When you simply browse

Like any website, ours is delivered by a hosting provider. Its servers record basic details of each request so the site can be kept online and protected from abuse. We use these logs only for security and fault-finding, not to work out who you are.

Our pages use web fonts served by Google Fonts. To deliver a font, Google's servers receive your IP address and browser details, in the same way as for any file your browser downloads. Google's own privacy policy covers what it does with that information.

  • Your IP address
  • Your browser and device type (the user agent)
  • The page you asked for, the time, and the page that linked you to it

Self-checks: your answers stay with you

Our self-check questionnaires work entirely inside your browser. Your answers and score are calculated on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else.

To let you pick up where you left off, your progress is saved in your browser's local storage. It is cleared when you choose to retake a self-check, and you can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings. Because it never reaches us, we cannot see it, recover it or delete it for you.

Clinic submissions

Clinics, and people acting for them, can suggest a listing or a correction through our clinic submission form. A submission usually contains your name, your email address, your role, the clinic's name and contact details, and links to the clinic's own web pages.

We use a submission only to carry out an editorial review: checking the clinic's details against its official website and regulators, deciding whether and how it appears, and replying to you. A submission does not buy a place on the site and does not change how a clinic is shown, beyond correcting facts we can verify.

We keep submissions, and our notes on them, for 24 months after our last decision on them, so that we have a record of why a page changed. After that we delete them.

When you email us

If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever is in your message. We use it to reply and, where you point out an error, to correct the page. We keep correspondence for up to 24 months and then delete it, unless it is still needed to deal with an open question.

Please do not send us details about your own health. We cannot give personal medical advice, and we do not need that information to answer questions about the site.

Our legal basis

Under the PDPA we handle the personal data above on the basis of our legitimate interests in running, securing and correcting a public information site, and, for clinic submissions, in reviewing the information you asked us to review. Where a law requires us to keep or disclose something, we rely on that legal obligation.

Who else handles your data

We share personal data only with the service providers that run the site for us, such as our hosting provider and our email provider, and only so they can provide that service. Some of them may store data outside Thailand. Where they do, we use providers that apply protection consistent with the PDPA's rules on cross-border transfers.

We may also disclose data if the law, a court or a regulator requires it. We do not sell personal data, rent it, or share it with clinics or advertisers.

Your rights under the PDPA

You can exercise any of these rights by emailing [email protected]. We may ask you to confirm who you are first. We aim to reply within 30 days.

  • Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: ask us to fix data that is wrong or incomplete
  • Deletion: ask us to delete or anonymise your data
  • Objection and restriction: object to how we use your data, or ask us to pause using it
  • Portability: receive your data in a common electronic format, or have it sent to someone else
  • Withdrawing consent: where we rely on your consent, withdraw it at any time
  • Complaint: complain to Thailand's Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) if you think we have mishandled your data

If you are in the UK or EU

If the UK GDPR or the EU GDPR applies to you, you have broadly the same rights listed above, and you may complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.

Children

The site is written for adults, including parents researching care for their children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us their details, tell us and we will delete them.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect or how we use it changes, for example if we add a new feature, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
